8/31/2024 - Boothbay Harbor, Topside Inn

For our 25th anniversary, we finally took the honeymoon that we never got. Neither of us are the "touristy" type so we wanted someplace that not everyone goes to. My wife read this place was the best in town so I booked 6 nights. Boy was it worth it! Every time we told someone in town where we were staying, we were told it was the best. Such a wonderful staff with beautiful rooms and a great view. We arrived a bit later than anticipated so I didn't get a lot of pictures on the first night. It was quite hazy and overcast for this night only. These are all from the balcony of our room.

Site Notes: There are several accessible rooms and some great views on the lawn behind the inn that are easy to get to. If you aren't going to stay at the inn, visit their bar to provide support to this wonderful establishment.

8/10/2024 - Breitbeck Park Sunset

It had been a while since we went up to Oswego to catch a sunset and I thought it was going to be a good one. I believe I was correct, but you be the judge! We parked at the western most parking lot. If you've never been to Breitbeck Park, I highly recommend it, and that was before all the upgrades they've done recently. It was a little windy which added a show from waves splashing against the breakwall.

8/4/2024 - Pixley Falls

After visiting this waterfall in March (previous visit), I wanted to go back on the bike. This was my opportunity and it was worth it. Very nice ride though the road keeps you on your toes! I'm not overly happy with the look of the long exposure on the main waterfall as it looks a little fake to me. Not many pictures as there were a lot of people swimming where swimming is not allowed. Very frustrating...

7/28/2024 - Basford Falls

I got out to a different waterfall. As you will see, it is more a series of cascades but still a cool view. This is one of several on the Grass River. The most popular of which is Lamson Falls, which I need to get back to sometime soon.

7/20/2024 - Hawk's Nest Overlook

I took a ride down to the Pennsylvania border (still in New York though) to a section of the road named the Hawk's Nest. I read that it was an 8 mile section of road with a lot of twists and turns. I think someone may have measured incorrectly as I don't even believe it was a mile long. Neat section of road to be sure, but the ride down wasn't too bad, not sure it was worth the 4 hour ride each way. Not too much of an opportunity for pictures but I did stop at the lookout on the way back through, it'll be a really amazing view in the fall! And, apparently, this section of the Delaware is very popular to float down as you will...

7/15/2024 - Boldt Castle Grounds

As my last post stated, we took the Two Nation Tour mostly because I don't have a boat to get to Heart Island directly. Taking pictures inside the castle is allowed, but not really practical. Even on a slower day (notice this was a Monday), there are a lot of people. I really do suggest you visit to see the craftsmanship that is being put into this restoration, it is truly amazing!

Site Notes: Accommodations have been made for everyone to be able to see the splendor of this place. The original elevator was replaced with a modern one allowing you to view all but the uppermost floors.
